Hi yall~!
I'm from South Korea and rock or metal scene there is very small.
Accordingly, South Korean popular rock musicians are forced to be in deep touch with poppy stuff all the time, otherwise, they could harldy attract the general audience and definitely go through a big financial difficulty. Even a household name rocker participated in a dance competition where celebrity contestants compete and OMG he did salsa with his female partner with full make-up and in right costumes. Do you think this
can be justified or can't help but be criticized for being sell-outs?
As you may know, S.Korea is a confucianism-dominated nation, where elders and seniors are supposd to be given respect or a credit even with no
good reason sometimes. There's a tv program some junior and younger singers pay tribute to so-called 'legends' doing covers of their oldies with them present on the upper platform in front. Several rock singers or bands did a live cover even when the legend , appreciating it
is a typical pop musician like Modonna or George Michael.
You think it's possible in your country?
